The 'Progetto Tirreno' was a multidisciplinary project, supported by the regional authorities of Latium Region aiming to define the physical, chemical, biological and geological characteristics of the Tyrrhenian Sea, close to the Latium coasts. Seven cruises were performed by the Department of Physics, to which the RAD Group participated by performing 3-H concentration measurements in marine water samples: 1) ANTARES (24 Feb. to 3 March 1988), 2) ALTAIR (25 Nov. to 3 Dec. 1988), 3) ARCTURUS (18 to 24 March 1989), 4) ALDEBARAN (20 to 24 July 1989), 5) ANDROMEDA (20 to 25 Sept. 1989), 6) BETELGEUSE (21 to 25 Aug. 1990), 7) BOOTES (21 to 30 Aug. 1990). A grid of hydrographic stations covering the interesting area was programmed and repeated during all the cruises. On the basis of the results of the measurements, vertical profiles of 3-H concentration have been obtained. The data set comprises about 250 values.
