Description
Summary

29 stations along 8 transects were chosen for sampling. Water samples for the analyses of the principal nutrients (N-NH3, N-NO3, N-NO2, P-PO4, dissolved organic phosphorus, Si-SiO2), chlorophyll-a and pheophytin were collected at the surface, at 10 m and at about two-thirds from the bottom at each station. The nutrient samples were treated with mercuric chloride and stored in a refrigerator for about 3 days before being transported to the laboratory and analyzed. The water samples for the determination of chlorophyll-a and pheophytin were filtered on board and the filters were stored at a temperature below 0 ° Celsius for about a week. The data set contains the geographical coordinates of the stations in ° latitude and longitude. The stations were, in general, confined to a zone along the coast limited by a bathymetry of 100-150 m.
