Description
Summary

During the TEMPO 1 experiment (from 26 September to 7 October 1989) two Technocean ARGOS-tracked drifters were released, one within (41.70° N, 10.80° E) the cold patch detected by satellite images in the Central Tyrrhenian Sea and the other outside it (40.78° N, 11.40° E). Both the drifters were equipped to measure surface temperature as well as current velocity at a depth of 10 meters. The former buoy (TRISTAR) operated from 2 October 1989 to 15 February 1990. The latter (MINISTAR) operated from 25 September 1989 to 18 October 1989.
