| Summary | From 1985 to 1989, the SO-ISDGM participated in an environmental study of the Tuscan Archipelago funded by the regional authorities of Tuscany in Italy. The SO investigated the hydro-dynamic properties of the water masses in the area. The hydrographic stations were pre-selected so as to provide a good coverage of the area and this schedule of stations was adhered to as strictly as possible during seven separate cruises. Vertical profiles of temperature, conductivity and oxygen, extending from the surface to the bottom, were obtained for each station. The first two parameters were used to calculate the salinity and the density of the water masses. |
