| Summary | Several cruises aimed at mapping and geochemically characterizing the fluid exhalations around the Islands of Vulcano, Lipari, Salina and Panarea were carried out. Samples of gases and thermal waters were collected directly at the emission sites by means of special funnels. The flows of the gaseous emissions were measured and the phenomenon of the isotopic fractionation of carbon was investigated experimentally during bubbling. Gaseous emissions, upwelling of thermal waters, solid deposits and products due to the alteration of material near the points of the emissions were sampled. |
