| Geographical area | The study area of trawl surveys was limited to the North-West by the 1000m depth contour, to the South-West by the mid-line between Italy and Tunisia used in reference to the exploitation of mineral reserves. The southern limit is constituted by the 25 miles line around the Maltese Islands and the 400m depth contour, and the eastern limit is again the 1000m depth contour. Catch-effort data refer to ports facing the above said study area along the southern coastline of Sicily from Trapani to Porto Palo of Capo Passero |
