The chemical data were collected in the frame of a research program with the following main objectives: - to improve knowledge of the chemicals distribution and their variability in the strait at seasonal and interannual time scales; - to estimate the exchange of dissolved constituents between the Adriatic and the Ionian Seas, and to evaluate their variability; - to increase understanding of the influence of the strait upon the adjacent water bodies; - to provide a consisent data set both for validation of the models and assessment of complementary programs. The original chemical data were collected, controlled, analyzed and worked up by ITTs and NCMR teams. The sample for analyses were collected from standard depths or more (up to 25 levels) in each station. The data are stored as depth series per cruise and per station. The chemical stations were occupied during 6 cruises: February-March, May, August, November 1994, February and May 1995. The data set comprises about 400 vertical profiles.
