Fluorometers

The samples were collected in the frame of a research program with the following objectives: - to improve knowledge of the particulate matter dynamics in the strait area and its variability at seasonal time scale; - to describe in a qualitative and quantitative way the particulate matter in relation to the hydrodynamics of the strait; - to estimate fluxes of particulate matter and associated elements through the strait; - to provide a consistent data set both for validation of models and assessment of complementary programs. The high resolution data of each station were averaged over 1 dbar pressure interval for transmittance and in-situ fluorescence. The samples for analyses were collected from 6 to 12 selected depths in each station. The stations were occupied during 6 cruises: February-March, May, August, November 1994, February and May 1995. The data set comprises about 250 vertical profiles of trasmittance and in-situ fluorescence. The samples analyzed were about 500. The data are stored as depth series per cruise and per station.
