Description
Summary

The sediment trap samples were collected in the frame of a research program with the following objectives: - to improve knowledge of the vertical fluxes of particulate matter in the strait area and its variability on an annual cycle; - to estimate transfer processes along the water column; - to provide a consistent data set both for validation of models and assessment of complementary programs. The traps were moored on the western shelf area (about 100m) and on the slope (about 600m) toward the deep channel, and they were positioned in the bottom layer. The sampling interval was between 1 and 2 weeks. The data sets are stored as a series of analytical data for each sampling interval for both sites. The complete data set consists of 84 sampling intervals covering from February 1994 to May 1995.
