Description
Summary

Sedimentological and morphological parameters are obtained through the analysis of profiles of emerged and submarine beach, from the dune to 8m isobath. The main morphological elements of the emerged and intertidal beach were surveyed by means of autolevel and stadia rod; the submarine beach was surveyed by means of continuous echosounding. Samples of sediments were collected at the dune-toe, berms, shoreline, troughs, bars and at every meter of depth. Most of the results are graphically summarised in a synthesis of immediate reading: 6 charts of the 'Atlas of the Italian Beaches'. Other detailed studies (morphology, sedimentology, wave climate, morphodynamics, etc.) were carried out on limited sectors of the Northern Adriatic Sea, as the Friuli-Venezia Giulia coasts, the old littoral barrier of Caorle Lagoon and its tidal inlets, the littoral barriers of Venice Lagoon.
