Description
Summary

The project objective is to seek and follow long-term local, regional and large scale trends in macrofauna species composition, abundance and biomass in the Gulf of Bothnia region. Samples were taken once a year, in the interval of May-June. The BIOMAD stored database covers the period 1983-1998. In the Norrby area, samples have been collected on a yearly basis since 1983. The programme is currently under revision, and during 1995-1997 the sampling has covered 20 samples collected in each of 9 archipelagoes and 10 samples in each of 7 open sea areas. After evaluation, the number of sampling stations and areas will be changed to optimise the programme.
