| Summary | The survey applies hydroacoustics techniques to get an estimate of the blue whiting stock in the North East Atlantic. This estimate is used as a tuning index in the assessment of the blue whiting stock, thus contributing to management advice. The survey is carried out annually in March, when blue whiting spawns, covering the whole distribution area of blue whiting during the spawning period, i.e., the spawning grounds, located west of the British Islands. The collection of environmental data further improves the basis for ecosystem modelling of the Northeast Atlantic |
