Description
Summary

Twenty atlases show diagrammatically, with the use of arrows, the tidal streams in parts of north-west Europe at hourly intervals. Each diagram is referred to the time of high water at a selected standard port, and a method is included for interpolating or extrapolating the rate of the stream according to the range of the tide at the standard port. The atlases are drawn using all the available tidal stream data. They refer only to the upper ten metres of the water column, and are thus intended to show the likely effect of the tidal streams on a typical sea-going vessel. The data are the same as the tidal stream data given on large-scale Admiralty charts, but the diagrammatic display shows the general movement of the water more effectively.
