Summary | This dataset provided marine habitat classification for Roaringwater Bay. Habitats are classified according to the European Nature Information System (EUNIS). The EUNIS habitat classification is a comprehensive pan-European system to facilitate the harmonised description and collection of data across Europe through the use of criteria for habitat identification. It is hierarchical and covers all types of habitat types from natural to artificial, from terrestrial to freshwater and marine. Habitats extent and characterisation covers Roaringwater Bay which is located in Co. Cork along the south-west coast of Ireland. The data was acquired from Special Area of Conservation mapping in 2001. Data was acquired to aid the designation of a Special Area of Conservation in Roaringwater Bay. Data created from the interpretation of single-beam echosounder backscatter data. Data was collected by the National Parks and Wildlife Service. Data complete for the area covered by Roaringwater Bay SAC designation. |
