The need for comprehensive monitoring of the conditions on the west coast has lately become more and more evident. A programme for coastal water control was established by the County Administration in 1990. Hydrographic data were collected once a month on cruises with a research vessel at 15-20 stations. Biological parameters and environmental contaminants are analyzed with varying frequency. The data are quality inspected. Checks were made by manual control.
