General | |
Data holding centre | Fisheries Research Services, Aberdeen Marine Laboratory |
Country | United Kingdom |
Time period | 1997-2000 |
Ongoing | No |
Geographical area | Shetland, Orkney, West Coast of Scotland |
Observations | |
Parameters | Concentration of aliphatic hydrocarbons in sediment samples; Concentration of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in sediment samples |
Instruments | Sediment grabs; gas chromatograph mass spectrometers |
Description | |
Summary | Sediments were collected from Shetland, Orkney and west coast sea lochs and analysed for PAHs by GC-MS. n-Alkane profiles and biomarker analysis were used to try and identify the source of these compounds. |
