Discrete water samplers

The aim of the study is the monitoring of characteristic parameters of the quality of the marine ecosystem of the Bay and Gulf of Thes/niki during an annual cycle (combination of monthly and seasonal sampling according to the parameter to be studied), by measuring, collecting and analysing samples from standard depths in a network of 20 stations. Monthly data of temperature, salinity, turbidity, nutrients, dissolved oxygen, POC, PN, PP, SPM (quantity and geochemical characterization), microzooplankton, phytoplankton, mesozooplankton and pathogenic bacteria were collected in the water column of Thessaloniki gulf, whereas seasonally data were collected for heavy metals. Phytoplankton and micro- and meso-zooplankton species composition was studied seasonally at selected stations. Data on organic pollutants (PAH’s, organochlorines) in sediments were collected once per year. Heavy metals and organic pollutants in organisms (Mytillus galloprovincialis) were collected seasonally.
