Description
Summary

The data set comprises echinoderm and mollusc species records made by N.A. Holme (of the Marine Biological Association (MBA) of the UK) in the English Channel for the period 1947 to 1986. One to three samples of benthos per year were collected with an emphasis on echinoderms and molluscs. Other data were derived from the literature for the area. The data base includes species, position, depth, date and abundance. The system of recording is based on the Marine Record Card used at the Institute of Terrestrial Ecology, Monks Wood, which was developed in collaboration with MBA. Data are now stored on computer files but the original records have been retained.
