This dataset contains measurements of Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC), Total Dissolved Nitrogen (TDN), Dissolved Organic Nitrogen (DON), Total Dissolved Phosphorus (TDP) and Dissolved Organic Phosphorus (DOP) concentrations along with various isotopes (d15N-nitrate, d18O-nitrate, d15N-TDN, d15N-DON) of water samples collected from intermediate and deep water of the Mediterranean Sea. Samples were taken during the 2013 GEOTRACES GA04 cruise via filtering from CTD niskin bottles into acid washed sample bottles. Collection was done by Karel Bakker and Raja Ganeshram and analysed by Adam Francis, Markus Ankele and Ulrike Baranowski by high temperature catalytic oxidation (DOC, TDN, DON), high-temperature acid persulfate method (TDP, DOP) and the denitrifier method (d15N-nitrate, d18O-nitrate) with a prior potassium persulphate oxidation step for d15N-TDN and d15N-DON. This dataset was generated to help understand the external and internal influences on nutrient dynamics of Mediterranean intermediate, deep and exported water. These data were funded by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) E4 Doctoral Training Partnership at the University of Edinburgh (grant reference NE/S007407/1).
