Grain size, lipid biomarkers and bulk organic matter measurements were analysed from sediment core samples acquired from the Ocean Minerals Company (OMCO) test and control sites in the Clarion-Clipperton Zone (CCZ) during RRS James Cook cruise JC241 (2023) in the eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean. Samples were acquired by megacore at the control site, approximately 2 km east of the test area, and via Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) push-core in the collection tracks and plume areas of the OMCO test site. Various elemental analysers, bench particle sizers and mass spectrometers were used to analyse the samples. The data were collected by scientists from the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton, UK as part of the NERC-funded Seabed Mining And Resilience To EXperimental impact (SMARTEX) project (NE/T003537/1).
