Summary

The Iodine sea-air emissions and atmospheric impacts in a changing world (I-SEA) project is expected to ran from 2022 - 2026, aiming to address major uncertainties in the biogeochemical cycling of iodine globally. The data outputs include climatological monthly average iodide and iodate concentrations from a global model of the marine iodine cycle (I-CYCLE) under historical, present and future climate scenarios. The periods of the outputs span 1880-1899, 2000-2019 and 2080-2099 under the SSP585 scenario, for 15 depth levels, spanning full ocean depth. The I-CYCLE model combines biogeochemical transformations of key iodine species with physical ocean transport and mixing. The data collected from this project were funded by the NERC Discovery Science grant NE/W00027X/1, awarded to principal investigator Professor Lucy Carpenter at the University of York.
