Description
Summary

This dataset consists of the outputs generated by the NERC-funded Discovery Science grant 'Phanerozoic biodiversity in space and time' (NE/V011405/1), which aimed to characterise how latitudinal biodiversity gradients in the oceans varied during the past 539 million years. The outputs of the project include: 2 RStudio scripts published in Zenodo (www.zenodo.org) that are run using existing marine animal occurrence data from The Paleobiology Database (www.paleobiodb.org), a SpatDiv R package published in The Comprehensive R Archive Network (www.cran.r-project.org), and sea surface temperature model outputs covering the Phanerozoic at roughly 5-million-year intervals submitted to the British Oceanographic Data Centre. The RStudio scripts can be accessed from http://zenodo.org/records/15269137 and http://zenodo.org/records/16098293, the latest version of the SpatDiv R package can be found here: http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/divvy/index.html, and the subset of marine animal occurrence data from The Paleobiology Database that was used for the analyses is available on DataDryad: http://datadryad.org/dataset/doi:10.5061/dryad.6djh9w1bx. The data collected from this project were funded by the NERC Discovery Science grant 'Phanerozoic biodiversity in space and time' (NE/V011405/1), awarded to principal investigator Erin Saupe at the University of Oxford Department of Earth Sciences.
