Description
Summary

Northern Ireland has four power stations, all of which are situated on the coast. As a wider programme of estuarine and coastal classification, fish catches at the filter screens of the power stations are examined on a regular basis. Fish are sampled over a 24 hour period each month, individuals identified, weighed and measured. From published information on age/length ratios of commercial species, estimates are made of the loss of adult fish from the local populations due to the activities of the power station.
