Description | |
Summary | Raw data collection essential to identify main litter types and to launch targeted campaigns. Seven coastal sites surveyed: five on a quarterly basis, two on a once-yearly basis (to examine relationship between quantities resulting from quarterly clearance of other sites and accumulations over longer term). Each survey site = 500 metres. Litter is hand picked by volunteers and recorded by type, number, weight and location. It is then entered onto computer database. Rubbish is disposed of to landfill after recyclable items have been retrieved. |
