| Summary | The aim of this work consisted of two main parts: (1) to create an inventory of all the heavy metals (Cd, Cu, Hg, Pb and Zn) content data for in the dissolved and particulate phases in the river Scheldt and its affluents and to interpret these data; (2) to describe the distribution of the heavy metals in the Scheldt estuary over the dissolved and particulate phase resulting in a calculation method for the distribution coefficient for the different metals. |
