Short name | CH3/75 |
Objectives and Narrative |
The objectives of this cruise were:
1. Establish a current meter mooring at 57N, 9W. Deployed successfully, but a check on 11/03/1975 failed to locate it. 2. Work hydrographic sections across the Rockall Channel from 55 deg 34 min N, 8 deg 38 min W to Rockall Bank and from Rockall to 57N 9W via the Anton Dohrn Seamount (Ellett Line). The section from 57N to 9W started but abandoned due to bad weather. Malin Head to Rockall section worked successfully. 3. Collection of shelf sediment Shipek Grab samples for Aberystwyth University. Accomplished. 4. Working additional hydrographic sections. Not possible due to weather. 5. Collection of large-volume water samples for radio-caesium measurements. Accomplished 6. Testing and development of a data logging system for STD system. Accomplished. 7. Near real-time supply of temperature profiles to the Met Office. Accomplished. |
