BODC Cruise Metadata Report for RRS Charles Darwin (74AB) cruise CD91A

Introduction

This report collates information from the BODC cruise inventory and oceanographic databases. It presents

Cruise Inventory Information

Long name RRS Charles Darwin (74AB) cruise CD91A
Short name CD91A
Objectives and Narrative 1. To obtain a detailed high resolution bathymetric map, principally along the slope between 55 degrees north and 60 degrees north, for use in numerical models, and as a basic guide for all the other SES work.
2. To obtain high resolution seismic profiles of surface sedimentary layers, for interpretation for site stability and to compliment and extrapolate from cores.
3. To obtain a wide area view of the sea-bed surface roughness and bed features, as a guide to the placement of moorings and the choice of sites for cores and other sampling in later SES cruises, including Darwin CR91 Leg B following immediately. Evidence for sedimentary forms that can be interpreted as responses to hydrodynamic forcing will be sought.
