Objectives and Narrative To measure the physical sedimentological, chemical and biological exchanges across the continental shelf. First part of two leg cruise. A first leg of 6th cruise in a series of 7 cruises for the LOIS SES. The aim of SES is to estimate exchanges between the continental shelf and the ocean in western Scottish waters. The main objective of Leg A was to recover and deploy moored current meters, temperature recorders, recording optical instruments and sediment traps in water depths between 140 and 1500m. A second objective was to use CTDs, either lowered from the ship or in the towed undulator, SeaSoar, to measure water properties in the SES region. This includes phytoplankton and other particles.
