Introduction

This report collates information from the BODC cruise inventory and oceanographic databases. It presents

Cruise Inventory Information

Long name FS Meteor (06M3) cruise M22_4
Short name M22_4
Objectives and Narrative Ref - 19930002
Leg 4 of a 5 leg cruise
Geological and and chemical observations in the subtropical South Atlantic as part of the World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE), and part of the WOCE Deep Basin Experiment (DBE). Investigations of the water mass transports in the western South Atlantic were performed, including the near-surface southward Brazil Current, the Antarctic intermediate Water (on its way north), the deep western boundary current at the continental slope, the overflow of Antarctic Bottom Water across the Rio Grande Rise through the Vema and Hunter Channels. Previously deployed deep sea current meters were recovered and CTD measurements taken at some sites. Additionally, satellite tracked ARGOS drifters and RAFOS floats were launched.
