Objectives and Narrative |
The main objectives of this leg was:
Extension of the ongoing studies of physical and chemical parameters in the Southern Ocean. This included the recovery of 6 current meter moorings from the northern Weddell and southern Scotia Sea, the deployment of 4 new moorings and measurements of the density field using deep CTD casts. To document the relationship between present-day currents and sedient transport and deposition, and to study the coupling between newly-formed Weddell Sea Bottom Water, older Antarctic Bottom Water and the Antarctic Circumpolar Current |
