| Objectives | a) Carry out leg two ( S of New Caledonia to S of Tahiti) of the GEOTRACES GP13 zonal section (Brisbane to Lima, http://www.ldeo.columbia.edu/res/pi/geotraces/ ) by vertically sampling dissolved and particulate trace elements every degree of longitude along 32.5 S from 172W to 150W (in situ pumps and TM rosette and TM fish).
b) Conduct conventional physical, chemical and biological sampling to provide an underpinning oceanographic description of this section (CTD rosette and TM fish). c) Further enhance our understanding of the biogeochemical drivers of oligotrophic subtropical waters N of New Zealand by building on observations from prior studies (COST, NCycle and PINTS) (CTD rosette, TM fish sampling to set up perturbation experiments). d) Explore the stoichiometry of the major and minor elements in both the particulate and dissolved phases. |
