| Objectives | To investigate the rates of change in a community structure and the growth and development rates of the mesopelagic fauna south of the Bay of Biscay. The cruise was timed to coincide with the time of the spring bloom when the greatest rates of change in community structure and in growth rates might be expected to occur.
Bottom sampling was carried out on Galicia Bank. Experiments were carried out on the microstructure of the surface 100m of fluorescence, nutrients, temperature and salinity. Several very deep tows were made down to 4000m with the combination net.
