Objectives1) To perform an acoutsic and exploratory fishing survey of unexploited stocks to the west of Scotland
2) To obtain samples of blue whiting for studies on the parasites Anisakis and Diphyllobothrium
3) Blue whiting that were caught were transferred to the ''Sir William Hardy'' for examination by TRS

The acoustic survey was interrupted from the 29/10/1975 till the 30/10/1975 to despatch samples of blue whiting to Dr K Anderson in Oslo. A call was made at Stornoway to change personnel and to collect fishing gear. ''Explorer'' proceded to Broad Bay to change over to a demersal trawl and to calibrate the acoustic equiptment, after the failure of the netzonde equiptment.
