Objectives | The key objective is to investigate the origins and distribution of toxic phytoplankton, with particular reference to Dinophysis, which form thin subsurface layers in very high cell densities off the south coast of Ireland. This will be carried out using modern and novel sampling techniques dedicated for this purpose. Particular attention will be paid to an area covering the northern flank of the Nymphe Bank, which has been identified (in both CV13019 and CV14012) as a source of Dinophysis. |
