Objectives | 1. To carry out a survey of the stocks of spurdogs to the north and west of Scotland.
2. To tag spurdogs.
3. To collect adult sandeels (Ammodytes marinus) for fecundity studies.
4. Collection of pout (T.esmarkii) for fresh weight and length determinations from North and South Minches
5. The collection and delivery of 52 live Scyliorhinus caniculus for the Institute of Marine Biochemistry (N.E.R.C)
Adverse weather conditions forced ''Explorer'' to seek shelter on the 18/12/1982. The ship returned to Aberdeen on the 21/12/1982 as contiued gales prevented any further work. The sever weather conditions and heavy swell prevented any work in the close inshore areas of Fair Isle where it had been hoped to collect sandeels for fecundity estimations |
