Objectives | To discover how the continental margin of Chile has reacted to the subduction of an actively spreading ocean ridge (the Chile Ridge). To accomplish this, the cruise was to survey the region of subduction of the active ridge, just north of the Taitao Peninsula, the area to the north where subduction of the ridge has not yet occurred, and the area to the south where subduction has taken place between 14 and 3 my ago. |
