Cruise summary report
| Cruise Info. | |
| Ship name (ship code) | RRS Charles Darwin (74AB) |
| Cruise identifier | CD39 |
| Cruise period | 1989-05-16 — 1989-06-16 |
| Status | Completed |
| Port of departure | Balboa, Panama |
| Port of return | San Diego, United States |
| Purpose | Research |
| Objectives | The objective of Cruise 39 was to conduct a controlled source electromagnetic (EM) sounding over the East Pacific Rise axis at 9 30'N, in a region where seabeam bathymetry and high quality seismic data had previously been collected. Using the electric dipole-dipole sea floor method, we planned to conduct an extensive survey of crustal conductivity beneath the ridge axis and off axis to a distance of about 20km |
