ObjectivesDemersal fish recruitment survey
1. To obtain indices of abudance of 1-year-old whiting, cod and hake for incorporation into predictions of the stock-size and yield of recruited fish in future years
2. To investigate the diets of predatory fish species in relation to the abundances of their fish prey, with particular emphasis on consumption of juventile gadoids.
3. To test trawl data-capture software recently acquired from MAFF in Lowestoft.

Demersal fishQuantity: number of experiments = 5
Description: Stations 83, 205, 81,17 and 87 all had a Rockhopper trawl.

Description: Stations 70, 11, 80, 88 and 203 were trawled, but 11 had to be repeated due to the codend not closing properly.

Description: Stations 71, 89, 79, 78 and 73 were successfully fished.

Description: 50-80m depth trawl surveyed off Clogher Head. Stations 75, 56, 208, 90 and 90 were successfully fished.

Description: Stations 94, 95, 52, and 50 were all fished in deterioting weather.

Description: Stations 51, 96, 216 and 48 were fished, but due to rising winds the fishing of 46 had to be abandoned.

Description: Fishing of 64, 63 and 61 took place, instead of those stations off Peel, due to high winds. 61 had to be cancelled eventually also, as the winds were too strong.

Description: Station 86 was fishind in calm conditions. Then 46 and 97 were fished in the 50-100m survey stratum. The final station 35 was then fished.
