ObjectivesGeothermal heat flow was measured at 10 stations in 5 small extensional basins in the Central Scotia Sea during the initial Antarctic leg of RRS James Clark Ross' 1995-96 season, in order to determine the age of basin formation. Despite the usual difficulties of shipborne Antarctic fieldwork, this experiment was a complete success.
