ObjectivesPart of the WOCE Hydrographic program, SO4P, the purpose of this cruise was to determine the strength and extent of the cyclonic circulation in the Pacific Ocean south of the Polar Front. Sampling consisted of full-depth CTD/O profiles (24 small volume water samples per cast) which were analysed for salinity, dissolved oxygen, silicate, phosphate, nitrate/nitrite, CFC-11 and CFC-12 at all stations. Samples were analysed for 3He, tritium, AMS, 14C, CFC-113, 18O, and CO2 system parameters at selected stations. Meterological observations were recorded and underway surface measurements were also obtained (temperature, salinity, fluorescence and pCO2).
