| Objectives | The scientific theme of this cruise was 'diversity of the deep-sea fauna'. Along the ship's transect the faunistic diversity of microorganisms, zooplankton, meio- and macrobenthic organisms was investigated in order to look for any latitudinal gradients in the distribution patterns. Of special interest were the deep basins in the South Atlantic, where little work has been done to date. |
