|Objectives||This cruise is in 2 legs. Leg 1: 25-31 Oct; Leg 2: 01-08 Nov.
1. To obtain quantitative information on fish populations in the mouth of the trawl, between the wings and as close to the doors as possible. The upgraded SM200 sonar mounted on the RCTV and new fibre-optic cable will be used.
2. Simultaneous video footage, using the self-recording ccd cameras, will be collected to give information on species identification. On some hauls, a stereo-pair configuration will also be used.
3. To use the sonar to make an assessment of possible areas where fish escapes are high in the GOV trawl.
4. To test rigging and set up changes on the performance of the single GOV.
