PurposeResearch
Objectives1. To carry out a survey of sediments and benthos in the vicinity of the Morecambe Bay waste disposal ground.
2. To carry out a series of trawling transects from the coast to at least 20 fathoms to assess the inceidence of lymphocystis and other dieases in the North Irish Sea flatfish stocks.
3. To collect live soles and lemon soles from the above grounds and also off the Isle of Man.
4. To collect a mixed sample of fish from the eastern English Channel for Dr Portmann.
5. To test the towing characteristics of an underwater gamma detector and to obtain seabed samples for the assessment of background radiation levels.
