''Explorer'' was anchored in the Forth from the 09/03/1967 for 3 days due to a deterioration in the weather. Arrangements were made to do a comparative fishing experiment with the research vessels ANTON DOHRN and CLIONE. The trawl of the ''Explorer'' was badly torn in hauling the first trawl of the experiment and the other 2 ships continued shooting till the weather deteriorated to preclude shooting again.

Herring and white fish (haddock, cod) catches were made. A considerable number of ovaries for fecunditiy determination were collect from the various positions fished.
