PurposeFisheries
Objectives1) Hydrographic sampling for temperatures, salinities and phosphates were taken at all standard depths from 0-200 m.
2) Underwater camera was fitted to the headline of the trawl whenever conditions were suitable. It was also used to identify the organisms producing a midwater trace off the southern edge of Rockall.
3) The Marconi Seagraph for most of the echosounding survey, some records were obtained with the expanded scale recorder
4) The ship returned to Rocksll to complete the programme of plankton sampling and to carry out a fishing survey

''Explorer'' put into Stornoway on the 26/06/1967 to land a sick member of crew and replenish freshwater supplies leaving on the 27/06/1967. Catches included blue whiting, haddock, coalfish, ling, rays, 1 basking shark, herring and mackerel.
