The scientific crew joined the ship at Mallaig. ''Mara'' docked in Oban on the 15/07/1970 till the 18/07/1960, and again on the 22/07/1960 till the 25/07/1960. A new crew member embarked on the 09/08/1960 in Aultbea. The ship put into Mallaig on the 12/08/1960.
