ObjectivesAir-Sea Interaction Observations.
MV Researcher took part in the observational phase of the JASIN 1972 Experiment. Three ships (Discovery, Researcher and Weather Advisor) and one aircraft worked in an area about 100km across near Ocean Weather Station J (52 degrees north 20 degrees west).
The main part of Researcher's programme was to undertake a series of measurements in parallel with those of the other ships and to contribute to the deployment of moored buoys. In addition, three spar buoys were launched on each of three occasions and a number of drogues were tracked.
