Objectives | The objectives are to deploy telemtry buoy and to deploy and recover the Coastal Observatory ADCP moorings and smart buoy; to recover moored instrumentation, i.e. STABLE, PMP, Wave Buoy and ADCP frame at the mouth of the River Dee. Also to carry out CTD observations for at least a tidal cycle in the Welsh Channel and the Hilbre Swash, to study turbulence and SPM processes. To Carry out a side scan sonar survey of the Hilbre Swash.
In the following narrative all times are UMT The Prince Madog was loaded on the 5/03/2006. We set sail at 0600 on the 6/03/2006 to Coastal Observatory station 21 site B and deployed the telemetry buoy at 0850. We then proceed to station 12 and recovered the ADCP frame at 09:50. We arrived Hilbre at 11:25 and proceed a side scan sonar survey, finished at 12:00. We poceed to anchor to carry out a 25 hour CTD station and grab sample at 12:30. The CTD station was started at 13:00 and worked until 12:00 7/03/2006 with several casts missed due to strong tidal currents. At 12:05 we lift anchor to recover PMP. STABLE was recovered at 13:47. We set Sail to Vittoria Docks. Got to the lock gates at 17:20 and by the side at 18:00. We unload STABLE and loaded SMART Buoy. Set sail at 06:00 8/03/2006 to COBS station 1 site A and deploy and recover SMART buoy and ADCP. Stuart Cutchey dislocated his shoulder took him to Liverppol. Got in to the Welsh Channel. 14:00 we anchored in the Welsh Channel when we started a CTD anchored station until 15:00 on 9/03/2006. PMP recovered at 15:32. Start side scan sonar. 18:26 Set sail to Holyhead. | ||||||||||||||||||||
