ObjectivesTo tag "haflin" (2-ring) herring in the inner Moray Firth with "Floy" T tags.

Vessels left 12/01/87 - proceeded to sea and began echo-search of Inverness Firth. Ring net shot 5 times that day - 2 good catches of herring but too small to tag. 1st week of charter 19 hauls made - not many 2-ring herring. 600 herring tagged. Second week - a further 16 hauls made in Inverness Firth. Tagged 7000 herring in the target length range of 17-24cm. Third week - good shoals of herring found in Munlochy/Avoch area. 6500 herring tagged. 2000 live herring (including 1-ring fish) returned to laboratory. Total: 14499 herring tagged.
