1. To undertake fish and sediment sampling in the Clyde and Minch areas in support of the temporal trend and integrated assessment of biomarker monitoring studies.
2. To sample flounder from upper Clyde at Bowling.
3. To sample fish and sediment from the Clyde and Solway Firth CSEMP stations.
4. To determine PAH metabolites in bile from these fish, if time allows.


After all gear has been stowed, Alba na Mara will sail north for the Minches, Clyde and Solway Firth areas.

During the course of this survey, fish, and sediments from trawl tracks, will be sampled from:
Broad Bay (plaice), Colonsay (plaice), outer Clyde at Pladda (plaice); 5 random fixed sediment sites for chemistry and benthos (CSEMP), inner Clyde at Garroch Head, Irvine Bay, Hunterston, Skelmorlie (plaice), Holy Loch (plaice and flounder), upper Clyde, Bowling (flounder), Solway Firth (plaice and dab); 5 random fixed sediment sites for chemistry and benthos (CSEMP).

On completion of this survey, Alba na Mara will berth in a Clyde port where all scientific gear and samples will be transferred to the ML Aberdeen.

Rest day provision for this cruise will be provided by a half-landing on 26/27 October, at a time and place to be decided during the cruise when there will be a staff transfer.

Liquid nitrogen and other chemicals will be carried abroad for the preservation and storage of biological material.
